Welcome to my homepage!

My name is Đoàn Quang Văn. I’m a climate and atmospheric scientist working at the Center for Computational Sciences, University of Tsukuba, Japan.

My works involve urban climatology, with a focus on physical aspect of urban climate processes including urban heat island and precipitation, how these urban atmospheric phenomena are impacted by local and global change in climate systems through interactions between land surface and atmospheric boundary layer. I’m also working on development of numerical models such as an urban canopy model, LES model to represent fine-scale urban physics. Besides, another interest is AI/machine learning algorithms, including development and applications of algorithms used for climate research.

I’m a visitor scientist at Research Applications Laboratory, National Center for Atmospheric Research, USA from 2020, where I’m working with the land surface model group on modeling global urban precipitations.

I’m serving as board member for the Board on Urban Environment, American Meteorological Society, and a committee member of several international conference / symposium on urban climate, such as that organized by the International Association of Urban Climate.
